Design & Craftsmanship Introduction The indoor accent furniture by Sheen Kind Investment Ltd. have been designed with the main aim of introducing a contemporary theme to a classic piece of furniture, whilst paying equal attention to function and workmanship. Each piece is handcrafted and so special because of the design, quality, and detail. Our collection encapsulates all the things we admire in great design: impeccable craftsmanship, gorgeous materials, and truly exquisite details that will stand the test of time.
Choice of Wood Solid wood is durable and it provides strong support. It has a natural grain that lends it looks and beauty. Our choices of solid wood are rubberwood, poplar and fir. Engineered hardwood, such as Medium Density Fiberboard, is a composite wood product formed by hardwood and softwood fibers, combining with resin binder and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is smoother and more consistent than plywood and hardwoods for building furniture. It is denser, stronger and more durable. For these reasons, it has almost as many applications as solid wood. MDF is a composite product used in many home and professional projects, such as furniture, cabinetry, flooring and even speaker boxes due to its smooth finish, machinability, strength and consistency. Wood veneer is thin slices of wood glued onto panels to produce flat panels with the appearance of wood grain. Furniture made with wood veneer uses less wood than the same piece of furniture made with solid wood. Moreover, wood veneer furniture is more resistance to expansion and contraction caused by fluctuation of temperature and humidity. Our product range is characterized by using different materials such as solid wood, engineered hardwood, metal, or glass. The following demonstartes the making of our exquisite furniture with kiln-dried solid wood and engineered hardwood.
Profiling Each piece of our furniture starts from a CAD (computer-aided design). We are using computer technology for the designing process and a furniture plan is generated. We follow this furniture plan to machine cut the wooden boards with different thickness to create all the components for the furniture. The components are bended or handcarved to achieve the desired shape if needed. Assemble all the components together and become the profile of the furniture. Craftsmen at our factory have applied their considerable experience to ensure every detail of the furniture has been expertly finished.
Smoothing The profile is covered with finely slate powder laid on with a spatula. When it was completely dry, the surface is leveled by rubbing down with sand paper by hand until a smooth finish is obtained.
Painting A proprietary, multi-step, hand-finishing process that results in exceptional depth of color.
Hand Painted Finishing Each piece is hand painted to achieve the desired finish. For example, antique, distressed, etc. Finally 16 coats of lacquer are added to the furniture for an immaculate look.
